Keep drinking that coffee, Cam.

I am so fascinated by the Rolling Stone “Breaking Bands” blog. I’m mostly interested in the amount of time it takes for an indie band to make it there. After reading the Pitchfork interview with AC, the FADER editors’ chat about AC, and that HRO post I’ve been thinking more about indie-mainstream crossover.
That HRO post about the new ANCO album was...

Holy shit, you guys.
Blues Control - tenku you →
Remember the other day I was complaining about how Blues Control has been so quiet for the last year? Well, apparently I missed out on the 7” they put out in December as part of the Sub Pop Singles Club. Bigger, better news: they’re opening for Animal Collective on their upcoming tour! Kickass! Hopefully that means a new full-length in the works.

Meanwhile, Tom Ford recommends sleeping with a man, even if you aren’t gay. I don’t trust any of these guys.

Fuck yeah. Go NFB.

Beach House
Nice. I interviewed them a couple years ago for Discorder. It was pretty last minute, I just ran up on them at Pat’s before the show with a tape recorder and they were super nice and accommodating. Victoria Legrand is my number one indie rock crush. Though apparently they have weird backstage demands now, like no flourescent lights in the green room. They actually made Courtenay from SWAK...

Settle something for me: is it pronounced like “metonymy” or “metronome” with a long e sound on the end.
Dear Merriweather Post Pavilion
I’ll admit I didn’t really want to like you. As soon as you arrived, you were so popular that I thought we could never be friends. When we first met, I thought you were muddy, and badly produced. I thought you wore too many effects for no good reason. Sure, I thought you were pretty, I thought you had your moments — everybody did. But now, after we’ve really spent some time...

Dusted’s review of these “lost” psych-funk recordings (‘78-86) by Wicked Witch comes with a pretty rad streaming mp3 that I can’t link to directly.
Worn in
Apropos of Cam’s post on the pre-distressed look of Wings + Horns’ Spring line, how about some stuff that would just look good after a lot of wear? Woolrich Woolen Mills is one of America’s longest-running wool garment manufacturers, and they recently invited Daiki Suzuki of Engineered Garments to take over their fashion line:
